We just published a very sad article Russian Video: Adoption of Russian children! (1). In this article we'll try to find out how it's possible these terrible things are happening with adopted in USA kids from Russia.
Kyle explained me whole situation. The truth is there are a lot of orphans in USA also but it's not very easy to adopt a kid in America. To adopt a kid couple have to meet a very strict criteria that's why some people who would never meet this criteria go to Russia or Asian countries to make adoption kids from these countries where they can hide some facts of their life or trade "this facts" to money for officials.
Some people who watched the videos in our previous article asked why Russians don't adopt their kids. The truth is that was very difficult! Family who wants adopt kids must meet a lot of criteria. [The same like in America!] But good news now it becomes easier for Russian families to adopt kids: Russian MPs are considering ways of making it easier to adopt children, so more families can take orphans and abandoned children. Complex legal procedures currently put off many prospective adopters.
And one more good news "The Wind of Changes" came from our authorities: now we have more and more social advertisement what encourages to adopt or patron kids! We have it even at our bus-stop!

Best wishes and
maybe it's time to think whom you would like to present Your Love!

comments always welcome.
Some videos can be not available now. We are working to recover them all!

This is not true. It is very difficult to adopt in US because there are so many people wanting children that are not available. The wait is too long. Also in the US it is customary now to have open relationships (share the child) with the birthmother. We do not like sharing our children. We adopted a beautiful girl who we love dearly and the requirements were quite stringent, including a physical examination, financial confirmation, visits from social workers (for 3 years after she was home)mountains of paperwork and 3 trips to Russia to complete the task. We chose Russia because our family originated there and because we heard there were in excess of 600,000 children without families. Approximately 4000 children come to the US from Russia each year to loving families who each had a reason of their own to go to Russia. I cannot believe anyone would think we went there because we were not qualified here.
ReplyDeleteHey Deb,
ReplyDeleteIn America there are somewhere between 800,000 to a million kids in Foster care. Many of these children are able to be adopted.
So the issue is if you wanted a child from America there are more children needing adoption in America than in Russia. Americans adopt somewhere around 127,000 (average) kids a year.
The American need is for a baby, not a child. That is why so many children are left in Foster homes. The true is there is a waiting list of couples who want to adopt healthy infants, there is a shortage of couples willing to adopt older children and those with special needs. The foster care programs are overburdened and, in too many cases, abuses follow.
You did not say whether you adopted a baby or a child?
Most children waiting to be adopted in America are school-aged or in a sibling group that needs to stay together.
Makes a big difference but it should make no difference.......
Kyle
perhaps it should not make a difference, but the fact is, a child without a home is a child without a home, whether it is in America, or Russia, or China. Yes, I wanted to adopt a healthy baby and knew I could do that faster in Russia. I was certainly qualified in US also and met stringent Russian criteria as well. My son needed a home just as much as any special needs foster child in US.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind heart, Anonymous! That's great that you are adopting a child! I know you will be a very good Mom! Come here any time when you feel like...
